| Why
I trained in this field |
Practising this ground-breaking work is a second career for me. I worked for many years in business, balancing the challenges and rewards of a fast and demanding environment with motherhood. Encountering this work made me realise how disconnected I had been from my body, and how I had for many years tried to keep is messages at bay. As well as discovering a resolution to the physical ailments and the psychological difficulties I was experiencing at the time, it was a revelation. I began raining and never looked back. |
| About
me |
I am currently assistant at the professional training courses held in the main school in Paris and am working to begin training in the UK in the near future.
Being one of only 2 practitioners in this country (other practitioner is in Manchester) and having lived here fror many years (I am French), I am also constantly involved in adapting the 'language' of this method to bring it ot the English speaking world. Over the last few years I have been Danis Bois' interpreter at the Summer workshops he runs in the States and I have also translated his latest book, published in the US as the Wild Region of Lived Experience: Using Somatic-psychoeducation.
Through touch and movement I help you release the deep physical, emotional or psychological tensions that cause you pain an discomfort.
I also talk with you to help you
verbalise and reflect on the feelings triggered by the touch.
It is not a massage. It is not manipulation, nor is it healing.
I work through clothes, The touch is gently, yet profoundly relaxinng for body and mind. It produces a deep inner stretching of all of the body's tissues, restoring vitality and physiological functions and allowing you to reconnect with your deeper self.
The Danis Bois Method is a body-focused person-centred approach that, as well as being therapeutic for body and mind, ofers the opportunity to reflect on life, to draw meaning from life and thus to engage in a proces of transformation. Neither a physical therapist, nor a psychotherapist, or a teacher, I feel that I am a bit of all three at the same time.
The treatment answers the silent need of the body at the particular time of the treatment. I work firstly to restore vitality then to release the layers of tensions manifesting and unravel the story of these tnesions to get to the root of the problem. This often means that though there is a pain in one area, I do not "seem" to address it immediately. I also give you tools to help you deal with stress on a daily basis through gentle exercises that complement the treatment.
