Why I trained in this field
I came to Shiatsu after finding it so helpful in treating my own and knee injuries, highlighting the strength of connection between our physical and emotional selves, and the ability that Shiatsu holds to affect both these levels.

About me

I am interested in how we can learn simple techniques to help with daily or ongoing stress in the body and mind. For my own pleasure and wellbeing, I practice yoga, dancing, swimming, cycling and chi-kung.

Shiatsu body work assumes that body-mind-spirit is a connected whole and that life force (chi) flows throughout. Symptoms arise when blood and chi are disrupted either due to stress, injury, illness or structural imbalance. I work in a flowing way, using the breath, the body’s own rhythm, stretching and acupressure to facilitate movement and change. I also incorporate gentle joint mobilisation and muscle energy techniques as well as cranial-sacral theory to encourage the body to let go of long held tensions.

Shiatsu is given on a futon on the floor and the receiver is fully clothed. Further information can be found at www.shiatsusociety.org. You can find out about low cost Shiatsu or how to learn shiatsu at www.shiatsu-do.co.uk
